As robbery and attempts to break into Encino’s neighbors continue to interfere with the city’s neighbors, city officials on Thursday assured Mayor Karen Bass has stepped up its “crime control strategy” as he plans to meet with community members.
The Mayor of Los Angeles is communicating with Encino residents who wrote a letter containing a list of requests to keep their community safe.
Mayor Bass will hear more about Community On Edge to meet with Encino residents via Zoom on Thursday evening.
One action involves the city’s decision to patrol the area on foot or on horseback, particularly during the evening and late night hours, with more LAPD officers patrolling the area, according to the mayor’s office.
LAPD also deployed a license plate reader to work more closely with the LA County Sheriff’s Robbery/Robbery Task Force to capture data on vehicles used by criminals while tracking organized robbery operations.
LAPD has also actively reached out to Encino residents on social media and shared tips on robbery prevention, the mayor said.
Another request from the residents of Encino was to increase public safety in the Sepulveda Basin. There, activities between homeless camps and indomitable people pose public dangers, including an explosion that injured firefighters.
“Under the guidance of Mayor Bass, brush clearance has begun this morning in the Sepulveda Basin, which is another important request for the letter,” the mayor’s office added.
The Encino community has tackled a surge in intrusions as organized criminals with sophisticated tactics, including using Wi-Fi Jammers to disable security systems.
