The Downey homeowner was shaken Friday after a group of robbers broke into his home and left with about $100,000 in cash.
The robber, dressed in a mask and dark clothing, plundered the Newville Avenue home when he smashed a sliding glass door in the backyard of the house.
They managed to get through the house thoroughly and found a large amount of cash in the homeowner’s safe and jewelry, wallet and watch. Residents estimate they have around $100,000 inside the safe.
A neighbor’s security camera captured the three men and jumped to the wall, then ran through the neighbor’s backyard and escaped.
Camera footage also shows that at least one appeared to be wearing a vest that an Amazon Delivery employee appears to be wearing.
The three criminals appeared to remain in the waiting holiday car.
“I can’t open the door to anyone,” said the homeowner, a retired businessman. “When I get home, you can’t even take a walk. They stop you and (for example) with a gun, “Give me your phone.” ”
Downey police confirmed a robbery call had arrived around 11am on Friday.
The homeowner believes he may have been monitored as he says he received an alarm notification a few minutes after leaving the house.
