More than seven months after cash rewards for information leading to the controversial arrest and conviction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, the offer is still standing.
The US State Department not only rigged that Maduro, 62, was the winner of Venezuela’s “deeply flawed” 2018 presidential election, but also helped him “and ultimately lead” the Sands cartel.
In the next election held last year, the State Department says Maduro once again declared himself the winner “despite the evidence of the opposite.”

It should be noted that the US has not recognized Maduro as Venezuela’s president since 2019. The US, like many other countries, has also refused to recognize Maduro as the 2024 election winner. On July 28th, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a statement in solidarity with the people of Venezuelans, “a year after yet another false election.”
“Maduro is not Venezuela’s president, and his administration is not a legitimate government,” Rubio said.
Despite this claim, the disputed president held his 28th celebration in honor of the first anniversary of his controversial reelection and the birthday of his late predecessor, Hugo Chavez. Maduro, who began his life as a bus driver before becoming a union activist, has effectively controlled Venezuela since 2015 by order and is widely considered a dictator.

Describing Maduro’s illegal drug-related activities, federal officials say he joined in a “corrupted and violent narcoterrorist conspiracy” with FARC, a revolutionary Colombian army designated as a terrorist group. Cartel of the Sons was also approved as a global terrorist organization specially designated by the US Treasury at the end of July.

“Maduro negotiated a multiton shipping of FARC-produced cocaine and ordered the Sands cartel to provide military-grade weapons coordinated with drug traffickers in Honduras and other countries. “He essentially sought support from FARC leadership in training unlicensed militia groups who served as military forces for the Sands cartel.”

The Venezuelan leader was federal indicted in March 2020 in the Southern District of New York with narcoterrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to own machine guns and destructive devices. A total of 14 other high-ranking officials were also charged with “us.”[ing] Cocaine is a weapon to “flood” the US, according to the US Drug Enforcement Agency.
