Stater Bros. workers, union leaders and supporters are calling for a boycott of supermarket chain Pasadena stores on Monday.
According to a statement from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 770, “120,000 Southern California Stater Bros. workers work under contracts that expired in March.” The right to engage in protected union activities. ”
Staff at Stater Bros.’s headquarters were not available for comment.
The union noted that locals of Southern California’s unified food and commercial workers have won contracts for more than 45,000 grocery workers in Ralph, Albertsons, Von and Pavilion.
The workers voted overwhelmingly on July 25 to approve the strike of unfair labor practices against Stater Bros., and their unions filed accusations with the National Labor Relations Commission, which allegedly involves “restricting unlawfully restricted union activities and threatening to call employees’ law enforcement agencies simply to exercise their rights of work.”
Workers will meet at 11am Monday to picket, chant and urge customers not to shop at the Stater Brothers Store at 1390 Allen Avenue near Washington Boulevard in Pasadena.
The next negotiation session will be set for Tuesday and Wednesday.
