President Donald Trump appeared on the roof of the White House on Monday to show the press that he was reviewing potential renovations to the president’s residence.
Trump appeared, especially above the Westwing and the press briefing room, with reporters busy on the White House lawns to meet him. Additionally, due to the president’s revelation, there was heavy security during its appearance.
Trump spoke to several people on the roof and said that the White House had not identified them or that they had argued.
The appearance comes days after Trump announced that he and his private donors will cover the estimated $200 million costs for the new ballroom at the White House.

White House press chief Karoline Leavitt said Thursday that construction is scheduled to begin in September and that it will be completed long before the end of President Trump’s term.

Trump similarly funded the installation of the 88-foot American flag adjacent to the White House earlier this year, each costing around $50,000.

“The White House is currently unable to host key features honoring world leaders in other countries without installing a large, unsightly tent about 100 yards from the entrance to the main building,” he added, adding that the new ballroom will be a “hugely necessary and exquisite addition.”
She said the US Secret Service will provide the security enhancements and fixes needed during construction.

The project aims to provide dedicated space for official events, state dinners and large ritual gatherings.

The planned 90,000 square feet addition will accommodate approximately 650 seating guests and remain true to the White House classic design.
