Anitadan is the 10th former Biden administration aide to appear before the House Oversight Committee, as he investigates whether former President Joe Biden’s inner circle covers evidence of mental decline and whether the decision was signed through an autopen without his full recognition.
Dan is a longtime democratic operative who has been performing communications between the superiors and causes of the left for decades.
She may have first worked with Biden in the late 1980s when she served as communications director for the Democratic Senate Election Committee, the Senate Democratic campaign division.
Dan was also a central figure in Biden’s White House terminology to shape communications policies, and played a key role in helping prepare for reelection in 2024.

Her husband, lawyer Robert Bauer, is also known as a person close to Biden’s orbit.
“If it’s a room of five, Anita and Bob are two of them,” an unknown former White House aide told NBC News in January 2023.
However, her relationship with others in the Biden Circle reportedly was rocky at times, especially towards the end of his four-year term.
NBC News reported in July 2024 that Biden’s family had debated whether Dan and Bauer should be fired from the tragic debate over current President Donald Trump, but White House Chief Jeff Ziens rejected the report in a statement at the time as “basically unfounded sompty rumours.”
In particular, his relationship with Hunter Biden, the former president’s only living son, has been in the spotlight on multiple occasions.
Dan criticised the president for dealing with his son Hunter’s pardon during the December 2024 event, opposed “timing” and “the rationale,” and described it as “an attack on the judicial system.”
“I am sure how many amnesty will be done if this amnesty is finished in a compassion context, and I am sure there will be a lot of sorting.
“So I say I fully agree with the President’s decision here. I don’t agree with the way it was done, I don’t agree with the timing, and frankly, I don’t agree with the attacks on our judicial system.”
Meanwhile, Hunter is Dunn, who recently named her name during a Tillard against Democrat operatives in a recent interview on YouTube Show Channel 5.
Dan reportedly clashed with Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe Biden. (Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc.
He said Dan finished his job on behalf of the Democrats, but has gone further to criticism from others like David Axelrod and James Kerrville.
But in particular, Dan was among those who continued to defend Biden after his argument – criticising the reaction of fellow Democrats to it.
“It was a bad argument, but it certainly wasn’t devastating from a voter’s perspective,” Dan told Politico Magazine in August 2024, saying he was watching the discussion at home while monitoring voter responses in real time.
“It changed on the 24th of a negative and horrifying attack on Joe Biden.
She went further in the interview, calling the public criticism of Biden “bullying,” while arguing that it was led by the media and not the voters themselves.

“[T]His data still didn’t support this at all. We were watching it and we weren’t seeing any major changes. But we were looking at the press environment. And nobody was covering Trump anything,” Dan said.
“We went to Wisconsin together [Biden] Due to the event, people felt very strongly about bullying. They didn’t like it, and voters didn’t like it. They felt it was unfair and it was wrong. So, you had a lot of different things going on here. Obviously there were party leaders who decided to go ahead and be very public. And it gave permission to others to make it public. ”
Before joining Biden’s 2020 campaign and later joined the White House as a senior adviser, Dan was known as a close ally of former President Barack Obama, who supported both the 2008 and 2012 campaigns.

Both she and her husband worked in the Obama administration. Dan served as Director of White House Communications in 2009 and served as White House advisor from 2010 to 2011.
Before and after that, Dan spent time as a consultant for public relations firm SKDK, raising questions about her influence with both outside actors and Obama’s inner circle at the time.

The New York Times reported in 2012 that Dan had visited her communications work more than 100 times since she left her communications job there.
The report also included White House officials denying conflicts of interest on the part of Dan or the administration.
After leaving Biden’s White House, Dan played a key role in former Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 campaign.
She has since returned to SKDK as principal.
