Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office were immediately responding this morning when an unexpected visitor appeared at Julpa Valley High School.
Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley officials say the bull wandered around the high school grounds and urged coordinated responses from deputies, animal control officers and local handlers. Using gentle and careful tactics and throws, officers and agents were able to safely narrow down the animals without any problems.
No injuries were reported to students, school staff, deputies or bulls during the event.
“The unexpected visitors this morning were certainly not your average school sight,” sheriff’s official said in a social media post. “The situation was resolved smoothly thanks to the prompt action of law enforcement, animal control and local handlers.”
Officials do not recommend such a “drop-off,” but have expressed relief that all involved are safe and that school day can proceed without further confusion.
The incident serves as a reminder of the diverse and incredible challenges local law enforcement faces in serving the community. The sheriff’s station assures residents that they are ready to handle all sorts of emergency situations, from loose to more serious.
School officials have not released any additional details, but the area was quickly secured and normal school activities were soon resumed.
