A Texas judge ruled against Beto O’Rourke and his nonprofit on Friday. The case filed by Attorney General Ken Paxton accused them of illegally raising funds to escape the state to block the GOP redistribution.
Tarrant County District Judge Megan Fahey handed over a temporary restraining order Friday evening to former Congressman and Democratic presidential candidate O’Rourke and his people-driven group that was linked to efforts to support Texas Democrats who fled the nation.
“The defendant has continued to engage in illegal funding practices and use of political funds to directly or violate Democrats in Texas. [the law]”Fahei wrote in his ruling Friday evening: “Consumers continue to suffer irreparable harm through these illegal activities as they fund personal expenses and make the political contributions used to violate state law.”

Fahey’s order prohibits O’Rourke or his group from continuing to raise funds or providing financial support to the fugitive Texas Democrats. The ruling comes just hours after Paxton’s office filed a petition for a temporary restraining order against O’Rourke.
Fahey is a Republican and was appointed GOP Texas Governor Greg Abbott in 2019.
In response to the ruling, O’Rourke issued a statement claiming that Paxton was trying to shut down his nonprofit, saying that “volunteers are fighting for voting rights and free elections.”

“Cry, lib,” said Ken Paxton, Texas Attorney General.
“They want to create examples from people who fight to prevent others from doing this,” O’Rourke added. “Now Paxton has submitted a restraining order to take us out of the fight. He wants to silence me and stop this organisation from leading. He wants to stop Trump’s attempts to steal five Congress seats where we need to stick to power.
“Cry more, lib,” Paxton said in response to O’Rourke’s statement. “You broke the law and lost in court to deceive Texans. We absolutely set an example from the law breaker.”
A flag of lonely star state.
