After the Coyotes attacked him at Carson’s playground earlier this week, the young boy received 20 stitches in the back, back and legs of his head.
Enoch Palomar, 6, was rushed to the emergency room Monday after the coyotes repeatedly bit the boy from behind. Palomar and his family were watching their sister’s softball game at Del Amo Park when the attack happened.
Softball games parents were recording the match when they accidentally filmed some of the attacks. In the video, we can hear Palomar screaming desperately as the coyote pulls him from behind. Another video showed coyotes roaming around a nearby field.
“I was about to leave it, so I was scared and trying to scream to get away. When I cried, it really didn’t work,” the child said.
The boy added that when he first saw the coyote, he thought it was a dog. As it began to run towards him, he quickly realized it was a wild animal.
“The instinct is to protect, do you know? So I heard him scream, I saw him being attacked by a coyote, and I quickly ran towards him,” said Enoch’s mother, Melissa Palomar. “As soon as I got closer to the coyote, it ran away and I was able to take him and take him to the emergency room.”
In addition to the stitches that Enoch received, he was also given several rabies shots as a precaution. Overall, he is recovering well, according to his mother.
Wildlife officials said they are processing the boy’s clothes for DNA testing to try and find a coyote that bites him.
