Responding officers eventually began a short pursuit, with the suspect stopped on the southbound side of the highway near the 101 highway interchange, preliminary information shows. A California Highway Patrol spokesman confirmed that KTLA had requested the complete closure of 405 northbound and southbound lanes at Burbank Boulevard as the tracking ended at 11:22am.
CHP officials later confirmed on social media that officers closed the highway for armed drivers who barricaded themselves inside the vehicle.

The suspect was eventually taken into custody. The charges he faced were not immediately known, if any, and he was not identified.

In the video on the Citizen app, traffic stopped on the highway and others were out of their cars and standing on the road while some drivers turned around. One angle appears to indicate the police officer surrounding the sedan that crashed into the center.

After the pursuit was finished, the northbound lanes of the highway were opened relatively quickly, but CHP said the southbound lanes were closed a little longer. No reason for this is provided.
It was announced that all lanes had been opened just after 1pm.
