The city of Anaheim confirmed Monday that at least six people were arrested over multiple federal immigration enforcement services over the weekend.
Federal agents were seen in multiple locations in the city, authorities said.
“On Sunday, federal immigration enforcement agents confirmed that they were in the area of Orangethorpe Avenue and Kellogg Drive on Sunday morning and carried out target enforcement involving certain people,” the city said on its website.
Around noon on Saturday, we had access to three or four black SUVs and white vans to the Euclidean Car Wash on Euclidean Street near La Palma Avenue. The crowd gathered and agents reportedly deployed a smoke canister before detaining one person, the city said. Business employees are not in custody.
Earlier that day, federal agents were also seen at Home Depot on Brookhurst Street. There, at least five workers were detained by what appears to be customs and border protection agents.
Since June, the Home Depot at 800 N. Brookhurst St. has been the site of at least six immigrant raids, according to the city.
The city emphasized that Anaheim Police were not involved in federal immigration enforcement and had not been informed in advance about these businesses.
“As a city, we do not support how federal immigration enforcement is being carried out and have joined other cities in lawsuits against enforcement tactics.”
Anaheim is one of at least 20 California cities participating in federal lawsuits against the Trump administration over immigration enforcement tactics.
