“Ketamine Queen” accused of selling a fatal dose to Matthew Perry agrees to plead guilty

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A woman known as the “Queen of Ketamine” has been charged with selling Matthew Perry, the drug that killed him, and agreed to plead guilty Monday.

Jasveen Sangha will be the fifth final defendant charged with overdose death of a “friend” star to avoid a planned trial in September and strike a judicial agreement with federal prosecutors.

She agreed in a signed statement filed in court to plead guilty to five federal criminal charges, including the provision of ketamine that led to Perry’s death.

In a brief statement, Sanga’s lawyer, Mark Jelagos, said “she is responsible for her actions.”

Prosecutors often used the terminology in press releases and court documents, Sanga, a 42-year-old citizen of the United States and the UK, as a prolific drug dealer known to clients as the “Queen of Ketamine.”

She agreed to maintain a drug-involved facility, maintain the distribution of three counts of ketamine, and plead guilty to one count of ketamine distribution.

The final plea deal comes a year after federal prosecutors announced on October 28, 2023 that five people died after a fundamental investigation.

Sangha confirmed that four vials of ketamine would be sold to another man, Cody McLaury, a few hours before he died of an overdose in 2019. McClary had nothing to do with Perry.

Prosecutors will remove three other counts related to the distribution of ketamine, as well as one count of the distribution of methamphetamine that is not related to the Perry case.

Sangha will officially turn the plea into guilty at upcoming hearings where the sentence is scheduled, prosecutors said. She was able to go to prison for up to 45 years. The judge said that although he cannot comply with the terms of the judicial contract, the prosecutor said in writing he would ask for less than the maximum.

She and Dr. Salvador Placencia, who pleaded guilty last month, were the main targets of the investigation. Three other defendants – Dr. Mark Chavez, Kenneth Iwamasa and Eric Fleming pleaded guilty in exchange for cooperation, including a statement implied by Sanga and Placencia.

Perry was found dead in a Los Angeles home by his assistant Iwa Masa. Prosecutors determined that ketamine, which is usually used as a surgical anesthetic, is the main cause of death.

Sangha has announced his gorgeous lifestyle on Instagram. I took photos of myself with rich and famous cities across the world. Prosecutors said she personally presented herself as a dealer who was sold to the same kind of high-class client.

Perry used legal but non-adaptive depression treatments through regular doctors, which is becoming more and more common. Perry, 54, wanted more ketamine than the doctors gave him. He began to get it from Placencia about a month before his death, and then began to acquire more hands from Sanga about two weeks before his death, prosecutors said.

Perry and Iwamasa find Sanga through Perry’s friend Fleming. In their judicial agreement, both men detailed the subsequent deal.

According to court documents, Fleming sent a message to Iwamasa, who said that Sanga’s ketamine was “unmarked but surprising.” Fleming texted Iwamasa, saying, “We’re just dealing with high-end and celebrities.” If it wasn’t great, she’d lose business.”

As the two men act as intermediaries, Perry purchased a large amount of ketamine from the Sanga. The purchase included the dose that killed Perry, prosecutors said.

On the day of Perry’s death, Sanga told Fleming that, according to her indictment, all messages they sent to each other should be deleted.

Her home in North Hollywood, California was attacked in March 2024 by agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency who discovered a large amount of methamphetamine and ketamine, according to the agent’s affidavit. She has been in federal custody for about a year.

None of the defendants have been declared yet.

Sanga also agreed in her plea agreement not to challenge the seizure of her property involving an investigation that included more than $5,000 in cash.

Perry has been suffering from addiction for years, when he went back to “friend” and became one of the biggest stars of his generation as Chandler Bin. He starred with Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Cudlow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer for 10 seasons in the NBC megahit series from 1994 to 2004.
