For the first time ever, the 89th East LA Classic will be held at So-Fi Stadium.
Roosevelt High School will face one of the area’s fiercest rival schools, Garfield High School.
The annual game dates back to 1925, when the Boyle Heights and East LA communities come together on Friday nights to compete for the coveted trophy and a year’s worth of bragging rights.
The enthusiasm of the fans is high, and the pride of both schools is on full display.
“We’re going to be playing in another big game on Friday,” said Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho. “I think the Dodgers will prove their point against New York and we’ll be rooting for the Boys in Blue, but the East L.A. Classic has been held for 89 years and this year is no exception. do not have.”
Be aware that there will be heavy traffic in the Inglewood area due to concerts at the nearby Kia Forum and Intuit Dome.
