If you’re looking for a last-minute homemade Halloween costume, Council Shop might be the place for you.
This thrift store offers unique DIY costumes at all seven of its LA County locations, and each small purchase makes a big impact.
The Council Shop is part of the National Council of Jewish Women LA Network and offers programs for women in the LA area, including: Rent assistance, continuing education, childcare, and health support.
“I think the purchases made here are 83 cents on the dollar,” Gil Gonzalez, manager of The Council Shop in Burbank, said while showing off a wall of Halloween accessories. “We have all the items we buy every year, so you can mix and match.”
Among the racks of donated clothing and Halloween accessories are costumes that everyone can wear together, including witches, fairies and superheroes, costing less than $20, Gonzalez said.
“You can look good and do good all year round, all year round,” Gonzalez said, while improving the quality of life for hundreds of women.
