A Diamond Bar woman had quite the Halloween scare after losing her wedding ring while handing out candy on Thursday night.
Patti Leon-Encalde said she was heartbroken to learn Friday that her beloved wedding ring was missing. After a thorough search of her home and workplace, she realized it must have been lost while trick-or-treaters were visiting her home.
“All I can think is that they were handing out candy and the candy slipped out of their hands,” Encalde said. “It’s one of a kind and incredibly special to me.”
This custom ring was designed by Don Encarade, her husband of 28 years. The couple hopes to have the ring returned by their wedding anniversary on November 16th.
Although their neighborhood is pretty close-knit, the couple said it’s not unusual for trick-or-treaters to come from other towns.
“It kind of hurts and I’m like, wow, how can we enjoy our anniversary when a part of us that we had for years is gone,” Don said. “We pray that we can get it back.”
The Encaldes said they will reward anyone who finds and returns the ring.
Patty said, “I just hope that someone is kind enough to think that this ring might mean something to someone. If someone has the kind heart to give it back, we will cherish it forever.” Thank you. It (the ring) is part of our world.” ”
