While millions of Californians have already voted by mail or at early voting locations, millions of others will vote good old-fashioned on Election Day.
If you haven’t had a chance to vote or register, don’t worry. California offers several options for voters to participate in elections.
voting center
All voting centers in Los Angeles County will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters who were in line at the polling station can still vote after the polls have closed.

ballot drop box
All ballot drop boxes in Los Angeles County will close Tuesday at 8 p.m. Click here for a map of ballot boxes.
Posting a mail-in ballot
It must be delivered in person to a voting center or ballot box by 8pm on Tuesday.
Vote by mail
Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by 8 p.m. on Nov. 5 and received by Nov. 12 at the latest.
If there is no postmark, county election officials will assume the ballot was mailed on time if the voter signs the envelope on or before Election Day. So be sure to sign and date your mail-in ballot envelope.
Not registered to vote?
Under California law, any voter can conditionally register and vote on Election Day. However, this must be done individually.
Unregistered voters who wish to vote on Election Day must go to a voting center and obtain conditional voter registration from an election official.
Once you are ready to cast your conditional ballot, you must hand it over to an election official to verify the voter’s eligibility during the official election period. Once the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk verifies eligibility, your ballot will be counted.
What if I have to work?
Employers in California are required to provide employees with time off to vote if they do not have sufficient time outside of work hours.
Employers only need to pay for up to two hours, but may require advance notice from employees who plan to leave work to vote.
Vacation must be at the beginning or end of the shift. Employers must post notice of this at least 10 days before a statewide election.
