A Powerball ticket sold at a Mid-City market was as close as you could get to hitting the jackpot in Monday night’s lottery drawing.
The ticket sold at Teddy’s Liquor & Market would still be worth a hefty $161,556 even if you matched five numbers and missed the Powerball.
With no jackpot winners, the top prize for Wednesday night’s drawing jumped to $75 million.
A Powerball ticket sold in another state with five numbers but missing the Powerball number could be worth $1 million or $2 million, but under California law , the main profits of lottery games are required to be paid out on a pari-mutuel basis. The number of winners may be less than or more than $1 million.
The numbers drawn on Monday were 6, 18, 33, 48, 53 and the Powerball number was 2. The estimated jackpot was $65 million.
