Saturday is National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day, and some Los Angeles restaurants are helping chicken sandwich lovers celebrate accordingly.
One such place, Chimmelier, has a pop-up store in Smogsburg LA and a brick-and-mortar location in Koreatown.
This local spot, which calls itself “Chicken Sommelier,” is offering a buy-one-get-one-free deal on the K Chicken Burger, a take on the fried chicken sandwich.

Chimmelier co-owner Kevin Son explained to KTLA 5’s Erin Myers that the K-Chicken Burger is different from your regular chicken sandwich.
Shortly after Myers said he had never seen a chicken sandwich this “giant” in his life, Kevin said, “Our number one rule is the chicken has to be bigger than the bun.” spoke. “The brioche bun contains homemade Chishima kimchi, shiso leaves, Korean pickles, and pickled red cabbage, and is seasoned with special spicy seasonings.”

Kevin said the seasoning “makes it look noticeably spicier than it actually tastes,” adding that the restaurant calls it a “chicken burger” in honor of what the sandwich is called in South Korea.
Chimmelier started as a pop-up shop during the coronavirus pandemic and plans to open a third location in the Melrose Arts District later this year, according to Instagram.
The restaurant’s Koreatown location will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for those who want to take advantage of Chimmelier’s BOGO deals.
