Music giant Quincy Jones was buried in a private ceremony in Los Angeles, one week after his death at the age of 91. There are also plans to build a larger, public memorial facility.
In a statement to The Associated Press, the family of the 28-time Grammy Award-winning producer, arranger and composer said, “The intimate ceremony was also attended by Mr. Jones’ seven children, his brother, two sisters, and other members of his immediate family. ” he said.
The family has not disclosed the cemetery where the ceremony was held. They added: “We remain extremely grateful for the outpouring of condolences and condolences from his friends and fans from around the world.” Details of a memorial service to commemorate Mr. Jones’ life will be announced at a later date. ”
Jones died on November 3 at her home in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles, surrounded by her family.
His seven decades of musical mastery include producing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album, writing award-winning film scores, and collaborating on classic recordings with Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, and hundreds of others.
After his death, condolences poured in from prominent figures in the media and political world. Saturday Night Live, where he once hosted, honored him with a photo during a quiet moment on the show the night before the service.
In lieu of flowers, Jones’ family requests that donations be made to the Jazz Foundation of America.
