A history teacher at Valley View High School in Moreno Valley has been placed on administrative leave after making profanity-laced anti-Trump comments after the election that went viral on social media.
The teacher’s punishment sparked some controversy, with students walking out of the classroom to protest the suspension.
“A racist, a draft-dodging coward, a rebellious piece of scum. Why would he win? Why did he win?” the teacher can be heard saying in the recording. Masu. “But has Donald Trump ever quoted Hitler? Yes. Does he embody some of Hitler’s ideas? Yes.”
The recording was listened to millions of times after being shared on social media.
“Let me tell you, I know Latino men on this campus and students who love Donald Trump,” the teacher continued. “He called their mothers rapists, he called their fathers rapists. He called them criminals. He called them poison to the blood of our country.”

Jude Baskas, a second-grader at the school, typically teaches the second-period class.
“He could have said it differently,” Baskas told KTLA’s Shelby Nelson. “He could have spoken in a family-friendly manner without using any name-calling to get his point across.”
Despite the criticism, Baskas and many other student supporters of the teacher left the school in protest of the suspension and are calling on the Moreno Valley School District to recall the AP World History teacher.
Milo Topete, a fourth-grader at the school, told KTLA that there are teachers at the school who are on the opposite end of the spectrum.
“There are a lot of teachers here who say racist things and openly support Trump,” she said. “Nothing will happen to them.”
Many of the students protesting believe that this particular teacher has been singled out and unfairly punished.
A similar situation occurred at Chino Valley High School, where a teacher was recorded saying people voted for racists before disciplining a student for wearing a Trump hat.
“Turn it off and go back to your seat now. Go, take it and-” the teacher can be heard saying. “Can you please send security to room B205? There’s a boy wearing a Trump hat and I’m not going to tolerate that. I don’t care if you’re here, you’re out of here.”

The district will not release further details regarding the teachers, students, or potential disciplinary action involved. “No, but this matter is being thoroughly investigated.”
In Moreno Valley, school district officials also released the following statement to KTLA:
“We recently learned of an incident at a high school where a staff member engaged in an unprofessional discussion of election results. We do not condone this behavior and immediately launched an investigation.
We recognize the heightened emotions surrounding the current political climate and deeply value the diversity of our community, which encompasses a wide range of perspectives and beliefs. Our goal is to foster a respectful and inclusive learning environment that supports all students. ”
