Police on Thursday asked for information about a woman who was arrested for impersonating a nurse at multiple hospitals in Los Angeles County.
After investigating a May 2024 report about a woman allegedly posing as a registered nurse at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, Burbank police arrested Amanda Leanne Porter, of Virginia, on Nov. 44 years old) was arrested.
“Hospital staff soon discovered that Porter was masquerading as a genuine registered nurse who lived out of state,” the Burbank Police Department said.
Authorities said Porter did not have a nursing license and was already on federal probation for a fraud violation in Virginia. Nevertheless, she allegedly used several false identities to obtain employment.
Police said Porter was arrested on a warrant after being released from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s custody for a similar violation at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Santa Clarita.
Porter was being held without bail Thursday on charges of identity theft, identity theft and grand theft.
Porter cared for approximately 60 patients during her time at St. Joseph Medical Center from April to May 2024.
Authorities believe Porter may have committed similar crimes in Southern California and are asking anyone with information to call 818-238-3210.
