A Southwest Airlines flight was struck by bullets as it prepared to depart from a Dallas airport, forcing the cancellation of Friday night’s flight, the airline announced.
No injuries were reported and law enforcement was contacted after the bullet struck the right side of the aircraft just below the flight deck. At the time, the crew of Flight 2494 was preparing the plane for departure from Dallas Love Field Airport, Southwest Airlines said in a statement.
The Boeing 737-800 was “hit by gunfire near the cockpit” while taxiing before a flight to Indianapolis International Airport around 8:30 p.m.

The plane returned to the gate and passengers deplaned, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.
The airline said the plane had been grounded and passengers would be offered alternative flights.
Dallas Love Field Airport said in a social media post that the Dallas Police Department responded and runways 13R/31L were closed, but responded late Friday night that there would be “minimal impact” on the facility’s operations. It was suppressed,” he said.
