A security guard has been arrested after a man’s stabbed body was found in a Santa Monica alley.
The suspect was identified as Sebastian Emil Gaston, 36, the Santa Monica Police Department confirmed on November 19th.
On Sept. 6, police responded to an online report of a person on the ground in the 1100 block of Alley 6.
Arriving officers found the victim with a fatal stab wound to the upper chest. The only person identified was a homeless man in his 30s.
The suspect fled the scene before authorities arrived. After collecting surveillance footage and witness statements, detectives identified Gaston as the suspect.
They also discovered that Gaston was a security guard who worked in a building adjacent to where the stabbing occurred.

On November 7, Gaston was taken into custody. During questioning, police said the man admitted to the stabbing and the assault that took place in July.
Details such as the motive for the murder and whether the victim and suspect knew each other have not been disclosed.
Gaston remains in the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department pending trial.
