An atmospheric river flowing through San Francisco is expected to move south Friday night, bringing the possibility of showers to Southern California over the weekend.
KTLA’s Vera Jimenez said residents along the coast from San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles County could see light rain Friday night and early next week as the storm continues to weaken as it moves south.
A winter weather warning is in effect for the central California mountains near the Eastern Sierra Slope from 4 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Sunday, the National Weather Service (NWS) said. Snow is expected to fall from around 8,000 feet.
Additionally, the NWS has issued a Small Craft Advisory for the Los Angeles and Oxnard areas due to hazardous sea conditions from Piedras Blancas Point west to Sal Point from 8 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday.
“Inexperienced seafarers, especially those operating small vessels, should avoid sailing in hazardous conditions,” the NWS said.
Los Angeles and Ventura counties will most likely see precipitation totals of less than 1 inch, according to the NWS.
“By the time that system comes out, it will be very minimal,” Jimenez said.
Jimenez said in the forecast that inland areas of Los Angeles, the Inland Empire and Orange County are expected to experience weekend temperatures in the 60s, with lows in the 50s or low 40s. said.
