Homicide detectives arrested a 19-year-old suspect after four people were shot and left inside a burning Lancaster home early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Miguel Sandoval, of Lancaster, was arrested on suspicion of killing Edwin Garcia, Christine Akaaku, Matthew Montebello and Giambi Makidan, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. His charges will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for review on Monday, investigators said.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies and firefighters responded to the call at 1:27 a.m. in the 44500 block of Tabler Avenue in Lancaster, authorities said. When they arrived, they found the one-story home in flames.
The discovery inside was gruesome: three men and a woman, all in their 20s, were found bleeding from gunshot wounds, authorities said.
According to the fire department, three victims died at the scene and a fourth was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Firefighters extinguished the fire just after 2 a.m., and the cause was under investigation at the time.
Investigators said a fifth 16-year-old girl was also in the home at the time of the incident, but was not injured, ABC7 reported. She called 911 and hid in her bedroom before being rescued by officers.
Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and no further details regarding the incident have been released at this time.
