Ryan Kobayashi, the father of a woman who went missing in Hawaii, has died after an apparent suicide, Los Angeles police said.
The 58-year-old father was searching for his daughter, Hanna Kobayashi, 30, after she missed her connecting flight from Los Angeles International Airport to New York. According to her family, Hannah was scheduled to meet her family on November 8th.
Kobayashi died after jumping from a parking lot near Los Angeles International Airport around 4 a.m. Sunday, police confirmed.
A vigil was held outside the Crypto.com Arena on Thursday for Hannah, who is still missing.
On November 11, the family said they received a strange text message from Hannah saying someone was trying to steal her identity. All calls that day went straight to voicemail. The family has not heard from her since.
The family of a woman who disappeared after missing her connecting flight at LAX is pleading with the public and police for help in their search. Dasha Phillips reports on NBC4 News on November 21, 2024 at 11:00 p.m.
Surveillance camera footage shows Kobayashi boarding the subway at Pico Station on November 18 at 10 p.m.
“It’s been 11 days now, so we’re trying to get them to take it seriously,” said Leah Pidgeon, Kobayashi’s aunt. “Just because she doesn’t have a mental illness or isn’t an elderly person doesn’t mean nothing happened to her.”
Kobayashi was last seen wearing black leggings, a tie-dyed sweatshirt, and a green backpack.
Any information regarding her whereabouts should be reported to LAPD.
