Ryan Kobayashi, the father of a 31-year-old Maui woman who disappeared in Los Angeles nearly two weeks ago, was found dead near Los Angeles International Airport early Sunday morning, authorities confirmed.

Ryan and other family members traveled to Los Angeles to search for their daughter, Hannah Kobayashi, who disappeared shortly after missing her connecting flight at Los Angeles International Airport.

On Monday, Nov. 18, Ryan spoke with KTLA in hopes of being able to contact her daughter. “I miss her,” he said. “I just want her to know about it and reach out to her, whatever.”

Hanna’s family has not been heard from since Nov. 10, and her last known location was Nov. 11 near the Pico subway station in downtown Los Angeles.

On Sunday, Nov. 24, Los Angeles Police Department announced that around 4 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 6100 block of Century Boulevard for a report of a fatal crash.

The Los Angeles Police Department has not released details about the cause of death, but a nonprofit group believed to be assisting in the search released a statement on behalf of the family.

“The Kobayashi family suffered a devastating tragedy today,” the RAD movement wrote. “Hannah’s father, Ryan Kobayashi, tragically took his own life after a 13-day intense search throughout Los Angeles. This loss has compounded the family’s suffering immeasurably.”

Hanna’s family did not immediately issue a statement, but the RAD movement said it was “urgently appealing to the public to remain focused on the search for her.”

“Hannah IS remains at large and is considered to be in immediate danger,” the nonprofit added. “It’s important that everyone remains vigilant in order to find Hannah.”

The RAD movement also urged the public to refrain from contact with the family and give them space to grieve.

“The trauma they are enduring is profound, as they grieve the loss of a family pillar and face the added burden of taking the next step,” the nonprofit said.

Hannah is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing approximately 140 pounds, with brown hair and eyes, and fair skin with freckles.

Hannah was traveling from Maui to New York City to visit family, but missed her connecting flight in Los Angeles at 11 p.m. on Nov. 8, according to her aunt, Larry Pidgeon. He decided to go to The Grove for the event. .

A few days later, Pidgeon returned to LAX and said that’s when he started sending alarming text messages.

“She was scared and said someone might be trying to steal her money and identity,” her aunt said. “Weird, cryptic messages, things about the Matrix, things that weren’t like her at all. And all of a sudden, we couldn’t get in touch.”

Her family believes the 31-year-old is in danger and are pleading with the public to keep her name as she goes missing more and more.

The RAD movement is asking anyone who sees Hannah to call 911 and take a photo if possible.

In accordance with the wishes of the next of kin, the nonprofit organization asks that all information, tips and media inquiries be directed to RAD Movement by text at 619-904-0840 or email at radthemovement@gmail.com said it was necessary.
