Days after his acceptance speech at the Country Music Awards went viral, Trent Wilmon is clearing the air.
Just last week, Wilmon appeared to comment on up-and-coming country singer Shaboozy while accepting the CMA award for Album of the Year for Cody Johnson’s “Leather.”

Wilmon’s speech received a lot of backlash online, but he now wants to clear the air.
“Okay…I was so shocked and excited that what I wanted to say is that I’m so proud of @codyjohnson. He’s been putting out and performing amazing music for the past 15 years. I’ve struggled to do this and it wasn’t an overnight success.” I was so proud that he was finally recognized!” he wrote in an Instagram post.
He then praised Shabboozi’s response to his “failure” and praised him for having a “great sense of humour”.

So far, Shabuji has not responded to this post.
