A man who sexually assaulted a UCLA exchange student in on-campus housing this summer has been sentenced to prison, university police announced Friday.
Jeffrey Stott Brewer Jr., 42, pleaded no contest in court to felony sexual assault and burglary, authorities said. After pleading, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Police said Brewer entered the university’s Saxon Suite in the early morning hours of July 5. Prosecutors said Brewer wandered around the building around 1:30 a.m. until a student let him in.

The man eventually left at the request of two residents, but then re-entered the building around 2:40 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Brewer then entered the student’s room and sexually assaulted her while she was sleeping.
He was arrested later that day.
After initially pleading not guilty, Brewer entered no contest and the trial was decided to be skipped and the case proceeded directly to sentencing. He will spend the next 10 years in prison.
Additional details were not immediately released.
