Authorities were investigating a shooting that left a woman dead in Hollywood on Friday, Los Angeles police said.
Police responded to a report of gunshots in the 6000 block of Barton Avenue near Vine Street just before 4 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The woman, who has not been identified, died at the scene.
Neighbors told NBCLA they heard multiple gunshots outside.
“We were sitting here and I think right around 4 o’clock we heard what sounded like gunshots. You know, it was thump, thump, thump, thump. It was 4 o’clock. , about five times,” Ernesto Lopez said. I live in that area. “And then right after that, five or 10 minutes later, I heard what sounded like a police car driving past here, and then I heard a helicopter flying right over here.”
No other injuries were reported. The motive for the shooting is not yet clear.
