Firefighters Steve and Andy Concialdi are spending Thanksgiving together a little differently this year.
The father-son duo are both members of the Orange County Fire Department and spend their vacations working at the same station.
Steve, an OCFA captain and paramedic, expressed his delight when he found out he would be working alongside his son Andy.
“I think we have one of the greatest jobs in the world, and to be able to work with my son and have him in the same profession is just an incredible feeling,” Steve said. spoke.
Although the two are placed in different posts, they share several shifts together.
Andy, who has been a firefighter with OCFA for two and a half years, said he always knew he wanted to be a firefighter, adding that his father was his biggest inspiration.
“I definitely love this job. I love helping people. It’s an honor to be here and an honor to work with my dad on Thanksgiving,” Andy said.
Vacations are meant to be spent with family, but Steve said his family is kept busy answering the phones.
“Especially on a day like this, people are frying turkeys when they shouldn’t be. There’s a fire in the kitchen, people aren’t standing by the pot, they’re distracted,” Steve said. said.

“Families come over whenever we work on holidays, like Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving, etc.,” Steve said. “Today is truly a special day. I am grateful, grateful and blessed to have a great job where I can help people and to be able to share it with my family today.”
