The owner of a longtime Orange County restaurant and Irish pub is asking for the public’s help after a thief stole its iconic sign.
Bill Madden, who has owned Silky Sullivan’s Restaurant & Irish Pub in Fountain Valley for 40 years, said the Nov. 29 robbery occurred at the back of the old restaurant under a tarp while the sign was stolen. He said it happened while he was in storage.
Madden removed the sign from its perch above the door while the store moved to a new location across the street.

“It makes no sense to me. What are they going to do with it?” he told KTLA. “Oh, I saw a Silky sign in my backyard.” If someone saw that, they’d say, “I’m looking for that sign.” They want that sign. ”

To make matters worse, the old location where the sign was stolen was directly across from the Fountain Valley Police Department.
The Madden family did say police have helped them since the theft of the sign, which cost them thousands of dollars, but they’re also sending out their own message.
“We’ll send a message out there and get the sign back. No questions asked,” the owner said.
