Two people were killed in a shooting at a Compton strip mall overnight, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced that shortly after 11:05 p.m. Monday, officers began investigating a fatal shooting in the 900 block of South Central Avenue near the intersection with Alondra Boulevard.
Arriving officers found two victims, an unidentified man and a woman, suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to LASD, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
It is unclear whether they were found outside in the parking lot or were inside the store at the time of the shooting. The liquor store was the only business open at the time of the shooting, and detectives were seen entering and exiting the store, possibly interviewing witnesses or attempting to obtain surveillance footage.
