A 28-year-old Ventura County man who is out on bail is facing nine felony charges related to distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), authorities announced Tuesday.
The investigation into the suspect, identified as Oxnard resident Angel Martinez, led authorities from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Unit to monitor a file-sharing network where illegal material was being shared from an Oxnard apartment. As the investigation progressed, a search warrant was issued and executed on Nov. 16 at a residence in the 2900 block of Albany Drive.

“Martinez was arrested at the scene without incident and numerous electronic devices were seized, including a cell phone, hard drive, laptop, and desktop computer,” according to a VCDA news release.
The 28-year-old is charged with seven counts of felony distribution of CSAM, one count of felony possession of CSAM with intent to distribute, and one count of felony possession of CSAM.

Martinez, who has pleaded not guilty, is scheduled to appear in court in January and remains free after posting $50,000 bail.
In July 2024, the City of Oxnard partnered with the District Attorney’s Office to investigate internet crimes against children.
Senior prosecutor Mark Leventhal, a member of the VCDA’s Special Prosecutions Fraud and Technology Crimes Unit, is prosecuting the case, officials said.
