The British indie rock band, who just embarked on a US tour, announced they were robbed at gunpoint outside a Starbucks in California on Tuesday.
London-based six-piece alternative rock band Sport Team stopped for coffee when someone reported their van being vandalized, according to their latest Instagram post. According to the post,
One of the band members said he went outside to confront the robber, but the robber only “pulled out a gun.”
The band wrote that they were “robbed at gunpoint 10 minutes into their US tour.” (The sports team performed in San Francisco on December 2nd, embarking on the U.S. leg of their current tour.)
A video posted by the band from inside a Starbucks shows the suspected robber brandishing a gun at the tour members, before the two return to the store.

“This is so bad!” someone inside the coffee shop can be heard saying.
A statement from the band, quoted by the Guardian, said the attackers took stage equipment, laptops, passports, personal items and other valuables.
“Lost a lot of personal gear, but no instruments, so we’re driving to Sacramento to play tonight,” the Instagram post continued. “They can take away our Nintendo Switch, but they can never take away our ability to play rock songs about freeways.”
According to the band, local law enforcement simply instructed them to “file a report online.”
“Honestly, it was pretty shocking how everyone seemed resigned to it. ‘It happens.’ At 9 a.m. at a Starbucks Wild in some gas station.” The post concluded.
According to the band’s website, the sports team will perform at Sacramento’s Goldfield Trading Post on Tuesday night before returning to the Bay Area to perform at San Francisco’s Chapel on Saturday.
The group has released two top albums in the UK and was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2020.
