An investigation is underway in Echo Park after a man was seen destroying a Tesla Cybertruck and the victim believes it was a targeted attack.
Video recorded by the destroyed Tesla’s camera shows a male suspect walking up to the vehicle on Nov. 28 with a sharp object.
The man immediately punctured the tires in front and behind the Tesla and fled the scene.
The Cybertruck was among several vehicles parked along the 1600 block of North Alvarado Street that day, but the victim said his vehicle was the only vehicle destroyed. He believes the incident may be a manifestation of Tesla’s particular hatred.
Some neighbors said they were confused but not surprised by the crime.
“I feel like people hate Tesla now,” Sol Dean, who lives nearby, told KTLA’s Elina Abovian. “I don’t know why, but some people seem to dislike electric cars.”

Some Tesla owners are concerned about a potential backlash over their support for Elon Musk and President-elect Donald Trump, the Guardian reported.
To sever ties, bumper stickers featuring phrases such as “I bought this before Elon went crazy” and “Anti-Elon Tesla Club” are being sold, with Tesla owners buying them as a precaution. It is reported that there are.
“Elon Musk is taking a common cause with the next president and taking a hostile stance against immigrants, California and the Democratic Party,” said Michael Webster, a resident of Echo Park. “It’s easy to see him as the enemy and see others enriching him. I think the Cybertruck in particular is a symbol of that.” [of that.]”
Los Angeles Police Department officials have so far said they are investigating the incident as vandalism, rather than a brand- or vehicle-specific crime.
The male suspect is still on the run. If you recognize him, please call the Los Angeles Police Department at 1-877-527-3247.
