California Lottery officials say the deadline to claim the $197 million Mega Millions ticket is this Saturday.
The ticket, with all six numbers matching, was purchased on Dec. 8 at a Chevron gas station in Encino. The winning numbers were 21, 26, 53, 66, 70, and 13.
Lottery officials said two jackpot tickets with all six numbers matching were sold at the same location on the same day, with a total prize pool of $395 million. One winning ticket was won over the summer, so now all that remains is the winner of the second ticket.
The California Lottery in June identified the winner of half of the $395 million Mega Millions jackpot as F. Rahijani.
“There is no way to know who has the second jackpot winning ticket on that great night,” California Lottery spokeswoman Carolyn Becker said.
According to lottery officials, the deadline for claiming the jackpot is one year from the date of the drawing.
Mega Millions winners must fill out a claim form and bring it to one of California’s nine lottery offices. Another option is to fill out the form online and mail it along with your winning ticket to Lottery headquarters in Sacramento by December 7, 2024.
California Lottery officials said if prizes are not claimed by the expiration date, they will be donated to California public schools.
The lucky gas station received more than $1.9 million in bonuses for selling winning tickets.
