Flavor Flav attended the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at New York City’s Rockefeller Center on Wednesday night, and it wasn’t all jolly.
In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), the clock-wearing rap and hip-hop icon vented his frustration with his experience visiting Backstreet Boys backstage.

“It’s a strange feeling…I was invited to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting tonight and escorted to meet my sons Backstreet Boys. And backstage, in their dressing room, a security guard… came to me and said NBC doesn’t need me ‘in this area and I have to leave,”’ he wrote.
Fluff, whose real name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr., explains how “social media women” get their content alongside the “I Want It That Way” singers. approached him and explained.
“What have I done for NBC or for anyone?? All I’ve ever done is try to spread joy and love…and for NBC at the Olympics… I think I did that in,” he explained.

Shortly after, the New York native deleted the tweet but posted that his “spirit is shattered.”
During the 2024 Summer Olympics, he became the sponsor and official “promoter” of the U.S. water polo team.
Hours later, he posted a video full of Christmas cheer celebrating the annual tree lighting.
“Christmas in the city is nothing like the illumination of the Rockefeller tree.”
So far, NBC has not publicly commented on Fluff’s claims.
