Hannah Kobayashi may have been involved in a “secret marriage” before she disappeared in Los Angeles in November, according to new reports.
Los Angeles Magazine, citing unnamed sources, reported that Kobayashi’s family is now cooperating with the FBI investigation after Kobayashi’s mother discovered the possibility of a financially-motivated marriage plan.
Hanna’s mother reportedly discovered the alleged marriage to an Argentine national through immigration documents containing the name of an immigration lawyer found in Hanna’s Hawaii home.
Los Angeles Magazine classified the alleged marriage as an “immigration scheme” and said that Kobayashi may have been defrauded of the money she was supposed to receive as a participation fee. The Argentinian man involved, Alan Cacace, was reportedly on a flight from Maui to LAX on November 8th. Kobayashi’s ex-boyfriend was also on the same flight.
Where is Hanna Kobayashi? what we know
The family’s Los Angeles attorney Sara Azari said in a statement that Kobayashi’s mother has provided all information regarding the potential marriage to law enforcement authorities.
“We would like to emphasize that the family has not released any information regarding the alleged marriage, as we did not have the facts or necessary documents to verify the validity of this information,” Azari said ( Previously posted on Twitter. “The family has not confirmed the authenticity of the images or the accuracy of the information provided regarding the possibility of a secret marriage. This is a number of clues that we are actively investigating with the help of our lawyers and investigative team.” It is one of them.

The alleged marriage would have taken place before November 12, when she was seen crossing the border into Mexico from San Diego. Police said she was not injured and entered the country of her own free will.
Less than two weeks after she crossed the border into Mexico, her father, Ryan Kobayashi, was found dead in a parking lot near LAX. Police later announced that he died by suicide.
The Los Angeles Police Department said Kobayashi was considered “voluntarily missing” and would be removed from modern life, seeking a balance between assisting her family in the search and respecting her right to privacy.
In an interview with KTLA on Thursday, new Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell said the case was “closer to closure” for the department after it was determined that she was in Mexico and safe.

“I would ask her, or anyone who knows where she is, to contact her family, contact law enforcement, contact us, just say, ‘I’m okay,’ and reassure the family.” “Let them do it,” McDonnell said.
McDonnell said detectives are aware of a possible marriage, but there is no evidence it is connected to her disappearance.
