A naked man arrested at a Ventura County high school was reportedly involved in a murder at a nearby residence.
The 24-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was wanted Thursday in a death at a home in the 400 block of Jeanne Court. Ventura County Sheriff’s Lt. Ken Truitt said the person who called police was hysterical and claimed the baby had been murdered, according to the Ventura County Star. The man was arrested around 8 p.m.
Sheriff’s deputies who were pursuing him said he was armed with an axe, according to recordings of radio communications during the incident. They also suggested that the ax may be tied to Jeanne Court’s death.
“The item used was an axe, which he probably still has,” a deputy said, according to radio communications.
Sheriff’s deputies called for a lockdown at Newbury Park High School after a man ran onto campus and onto the football field. Despite the late hour, many students were still at school.
The teenage victim, a minor, was found with blunt force trauma to the head and died on the way to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, Truitt told the Star.
Video of the arrest showed the suspect being taken into custody on the high school football field.
