Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said Sunday while speaking with host Kristen Welker of NBC’s “Meet the Press” that President Biden, who previously said he would not pardon his son Hunter Biden, I had two thoughts about pardoning him.

“As a father, as a parent, I think everyone can understand that Biden is trying to protect himself and his son and his family if the opposition is going after them,” Sanders said. “On the other hand, I think this precedent is kind of dangerous. This is a very broad pardon that could create problems for future presidents in different circumstances.”

Nevertheless, Sanders believes that Biden leaves behind a “strong legacy” because he is progressive in his domestic policies. “Today’s economy is in a very strong position in many respects,” he added.

Sanders even said that Biden is the most progressive president since Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Discussing the minimum wage, Sanders told Welker that he would work with President-elect Trump to raise the minimum wage, which has remained at $7.25 an hour since 2009.

Mr. Welker said Mr. Trump acknowledged it was too low, but Mr. Sanders last tried to raise the wage to $15 an hour two years ago, and not a single Republican voted for it. said.

“Look, a $7.25 hourly minimum wage is absolutely disgraceful,” Sanders said. “There are millions of people in this country working on starvation wages. They can’t afford to buy a home and they can’t afford to feed their children enough.”

Sanders currently believes the minimum wage should be $17 an hour and hopes that lawmakers “ultimately can work together in a bipartisan manner to achieve that goal.”
