A 19-year-old man was found shot inside a crashed car near Pasadena. The family has been identified.
Details of the March 26 incident in the 700 block of Rio Grande Street near Her Molino are limited, and it is unclear exactly how the fatal shooting unfolded, but it was around 6pm when police first received a crash fall.
Aerial footage of Sky5 showed officers on the scene where the victim, identified as Ivan Cervantes-Cruz, now resident of El Monte, jumped over the curb and crashed the vehicle into what appeared to be a maintenance wall of the house.
Pasadena Fire Department health workers responded to the location and declared the victim had died despite measures to save lives.

One witness to the crash said he was driving on the street when he saw the man’s car travel at high speed before running to what appears to be the retaining wall of the resident’s front yard.

Witnesses said they noticed that the wheels of the vehicle continued to rotate after the collision, and that both he and the nearby resident had come into the car and saw the victim lying inward with a bullet wound in the shoulder.
At GofundMe, organized for a 19-year-old family, Cervantes-Cruz said, “one of his most kind-hearted, caring, and loved ones can meet… His character was built on a sense of respect, kindness and strong responsibility.”
