Navy officials and media reports say the 21-year-old woman who died earlier this week, an arrest was made in connection with the disappearance of a US Navy seafarer.
Angelina Petra Resendiz was last seen in the barracks of the Norfolk Naval Bureau, Virginia, on the morning of May 29, NBC News reported, but Virginia Police officials did not critically alert her to the missing person until the first week of June.
The sailor’s body was discovered on June 9 by a member of the Navy Criminal Investigation Service in Norfolk’s forest area.

According to the family of the 21-year-old sailor, Navy officials, including her commander, limped after her loss.
A family spokesman told NBC News that Resendiz’s mother, Esmeralda Castle, has not been informed of her daughter’s loss of failure through official naval channels.

“Even her daughter’s colleagues, friends and authorities knew she was missing, but the response was minimal,” according to a statement released on behalf of the family. “After her friend submitted a report of the missing person when her commander was not there, they showed almost compassion and understanding.”
An NCIS official who arrested an unidentified sailor at the 21-year-old’s lost disappearance said in a statement that the agency immediately began an investigation as soon as it learned that she was missing.
“NCIS remains committed to uncovering the facts surrounding the tragic death of Seaman Resendiz, in order to ensure accountability and justice,” the statement added.
Investigators told NBC News that an investigation is underway and that accusations under the Uniform Code of Military Justice are pending against the suspect.
