Authorities announced Friday morning that the bike was killed after being attacked by a suspected hit-and-run driver in West Hollywood.
It happened around 9:47pm Thursday, according to the Fountain Avenue and Gardner Street areas.
Preliminary investigations show that the bike was moving west along Fountain Avenue when an old white model BMW sedan with its bike moving in the same direction hit the bike at a private speed.
Lasd said the white sedan escaped the scene and continued west along Fountain Avenue, causing bikers to get injured in the street. Authorities did not say how long the man was left alone before he was taken to Cedars Sinai Hospital, where he ultimately died of his injuries. His identity was not released anytime soon.
“The white BMW sedan is expected to have a crushed windshield on the passenger side of the vehicle,” the Sheriff’s Department said at its release.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation, LASD added. “At this point it is unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role.”
As of Friday morning, no suspicious explanations or arrests had been announced.
Anyone with information about this collision will be asked to contact a traffic inspector at West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station at 310-855-8850.
