Rapper Soulja Boy was arrested early Sunday in Los Angeles after police said they found the firearm during a traffic stop.
According to LAPD, officers pulled the vehicle near Melrose Avenue and North Genesee Avenue around 2:35am. One of the passengers identified as Deandre Cortez Way (known as Soulja Boy of “Crank That”) was arrested on suspicion of being a felon convicted of possession of a firearm.
Police did not share details about what prompted the stoppage or who else was in the vehicle. Additional information about the firearms was not immediately available.

Soulja Boy is best known for other tracks such as 2007 breakout hits “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” and “Turn My Swag On” and “Kiss Me Stru the Phone.”
He also made headlines in recent months due to legal issues. In April, the ju-degree ordered him to pay $4 million in a sexual battery case.
