The county coroner has identified the boy who was killed when he was attacked by a tree branch that fell on him at a summer camp in Calabasas.
According to the Ventura County Clinic office, 8-year-old Lamar McGrotorun of Los Angeles passed away in the July 9 tragedy at King Gillette Ranch. Blunt instrument crash injuries were listed as the cause of death.
Four other campers were injured. At least two people were hospitalized with minor injuries.
The camper was sitting under a large tree on Mount Santa Monica as the branches snapped and fell.
Lamar died in the hospital. A young girl was airlifted from the ranch, but is expected to recover.
It was the fourth week of Camp Wildcraft for young nature lovers. The camp has two campuses in Malibu and Calabasa. This summer, the location returned to Calabasas due to a recent wildfire.
