A Compton man who allegedly threw a concrete block at a federal officer in Paramount last month was arrested Wednesday after fleeing to Mexico, authorities said.

Elpidio Reyna, 39, was featured on the FBI’s most wanted list, allegedly taking part in a standoff against federal agents after the attack at nearby Home Depot on June 7th.

Video footage taken during the era allows individuals to throw objects as they move through federal vehicles. According to federal filings, US customs and border security and former S representatives took part in the attack.

According to the FBI, at about 3:30pm on June 7, Reina allegedly threw a concrete block at the car, damaging the vehicle’s appearance and injuring a federal official.

According to a complaint filed against Reyna, an agent in one of the vehicles suffered a laceration.

Reina was charged with federal criminal charges and allegedly attacked federal officials on June 8th. In the complaint, prosecutors alleged that he was identified as wearing a yellow helmet in a series of videos with a man wearing a “Zacatecas” jersey.

According to the lawsuit, the agency filed an emergency disclosure request with Tiktok and was able to find Reina’s address in Compton. Federal agents later confirmed he had fled to Mexico.

On June 11, the Department of Homeland Security announced a $50,000 reward to find Reina, according to a news release.

Reyna’s photos and descriptions have been published in the US and Mexico, including Instagram posts from the official White House account. The poster, circulated by the FBI, said it was being asked to be “substantiated assault by a federal officer.”

Mexican authorities took Reina into custody in Sinaloa shortly after the post office was made public, and Reina surrendered to the FBI on Wednesday. He was arrested at San Isidro Port and taken to Los Angeles, where he was expected to appear in his first court on Wednesday.

“For those who think they can attack federal officials and hide behind masks and helmets, Reina’s arrest today proves that they can find and claim someone who violates federal law,” Bill Essayri wrote in X’s post, “Don’t touch the officers.”

The video accompanying the post shows Reina being handcuffed, searched and put in the vehicle.

“The FBI will never tolerate violence against those who serve and protect this country,” FBI director Kash Patel wrote to X, adding that Reyna “faces justice.”

The case is being charged by the US attys. Thi Ho and Frances Lewis.
