The man was killed after a verbal dispute that escalated into a shootout Saturday in Long Beach, officials said.
According to a department news release, Long Beach Police Department officials responded to reports of a shooting in the 0 block of Cedar Walk before 6pm.
At the scene, police found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound, and paramedics with the Long Beach Fire Department arrived and rushed the victim to the hospital, where they were later declared dead.
Details are limited and it is unclear exactly how the violence unfolded, but homicide investigators said the preliminary information suggests that the victim had been in an oral conflict with a person or several people before he was fatally shot dead.
