Firefighters fought a grass fire that had been lit on a hillside near Pacoima’s home Friday night.
The flame was reported around 5:30pm on a hillside near the 12,500 block of West Chanout Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The semi-acre grass fire was burning between the Whiteman Air Park and the houses along Shanute Street and Empire Drive.
Sky5 captured residents hosing the hillside before firefighters could soon arrive at the scene. Firefighters headed up the hillside to the heavier brush, securing the hose line near the air park to extinguish the flames.

“The drone team is being asked to do air reconnaissance as businesses remain on the scene to wipe away hot spots and completely contain burn areas,” Lafd said.
The wind remained calm and despite its proximity to the home, there was no structure that was immediately threatened. No firefighter injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
