A large group of teenagers on bikes plundered Ralph and released pepper spray at a store in Los Angeles before turning their attention to the married couple, terrifying the two men, throwing insults and rocks.
The incident unfolded on April 19th at Ralphs grocery store on Vermont Avenue and Adams Streets near the University of Southern California Los Angeles Campus.
One of the victims, Ryan Benson, told KTLA’s Sandra Mitchell that he and his husband were scared and felt trapped in their car as the situation escalated.
“‘Gay?’ homophobic slander, bumping into a car, throwing a bottle,” Benson said.
The teenage group reportedly ignored commands from store security, releasing pepper spray inside the store and rushing the grocery store.
On April 19, 2025, a large group of motorcycle teens flocked to Ralph in LA, stealing items and yelling chili sprays before harassing married couples physically and verbally. “There was so much pepper spray in the air that everyone in the store was coughing, sneezing, hiding their faces under their shirts,” Benson added.
2 Arrested on suspicion of human trafficking in Southern California
This isn’t the first time a big, wild scrum of a teenager has unleashed mayhem on the streets of town.
In January, Mercedes drivers in the Mid-Wilshire area flocked to a group of teenagers on bikes and destroyed the vehicle.
Investigators at the Los Angeles Police Department said Ralph’s group could be linked to other similar crimes, including kicking and beating people near Beverly Hills in February and looting a 7-Eleven convenience store in the city.
Regarding Benson and his husband, he said the damage caused by the group to his car costs thousands of dollars to repair.
“Our windows are broken, our windshields are cracked, both doors have dents and dents with paint damage,” he explained. “I understand that they are kids, but these are really scary and I can’t tell them it’s not happening.”
So far, no arrests have been made.
